Chisholm
Powers to USMTS Win at Princeton
PRINCETON, Minn. (July 18,
2025)The 5th
Annual Mod Wars kicked off with a bang at Princeton
Speedway on Friday, as Jim Chisholm of Osage, Iowa,
dominated the 40-lap main event for the Summit USMTS
National Championship presented by RacinDirt.
Chisholm, starting from the second position, quickly
seized the lead on lap 2 and never looked back en route
to a $5,000 victory on opening night of the three-day
spectacular.
While Chisholm celebrated in victory
lane, the battle for the remaining podium spots was
fierce. Reece Solander of Emporia, Kan., put in a strong
performance to secure second place, coming up just short
at the finish line.
Gary Christian of Broken Bow,
Okla., rounded out the top three, adding another strong
finish to his season. Local favorite Dave Cain of
Corcoran impressed crowd with a fourth-place finish,
while Clayton Wagamon of Ramsey, who led the opening
lap, held on for a solid fifth.
The evening began
with Hodges Farms & Dredging Qualifying, where Joe
Chisholm of Osage, Iowa, laid down the fastest lap,
setting the tone for a competitive night. Heat race
victories went to Tanner Mullens of Wichita, Kan., Bryce
Sward of Nelson and Solander.
The Real Racing
Wheels B Main saw Travis Schulte of Becker lead the
charge, followed by Tyler Kaeter of St. Cloud, Brennan
Gave of Princeton, Shane Sabraski of Rice, J.T. Johnson
of Milaca, and John Toppozini of Thunder Bay, Ont.,
Canada all successfully transferring to the Summit
Racing Equipment A Main.
The FK Rod Ends Hard
Charger award for the "A" Main went to Sabraski, who
carved his way through the field from 20th to finish
12th, gaining eight positions.
This weekend is a
critical juncture in the Summit USMTS National
Championship points chase. Rodney Sanders of Happy,
Texas, continues to lead the overall points standings
with 1,708 points, but Jim Chisholm's victory tightens
the gap, moving him to 1,608 points. Tanner Mullens
holds third with 1,551 points. The intensity of
competition for the championship title is escalating
with each race.
The Grant Junghans USMTS Rookie
of the Year battle remains close, with Joe Chisholm
leading Trevor Hughes and Reece Solander. The FK Rod
Ends USMTS Hard Charger Points show Sanders at the top,
followed by Terry Phillips and Jim Chisholm.
Drivers will have little time to rest as the 5th Annual
Mod Wars heads to the Ogilvie Raceway on Saturday for
Night 2 of Mod Wars.
