USMTS Warriors Enter Pivotal Labor Day Weekend

WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (Aug. 29) The stars and cars of the Summit USMTS National Championship presented by RacinDirt return for their traditional Labor Day Weekend swing this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 2-4, for a pivotal weekend in the $100,000 title hunt.

The 8th Annual End of Summer Bash at the Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, Wis., will get the party started on Friday and then the series travels to the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn., on Saturday for the 17th Annual J&S JCB Fastrac 40 before wrapping up the tripleheader with the 10th Annual War in West Union at the Fayette County Speedway in West Union, Iowa.

A bonus for both competitors and race fans, the Mississippi Thunder Speedway will see a four-division program on Thursday, Sept. 1, with the Karl Fenske Memorial featuring a $4,999-to-win, $299-to-start main event for USRA Modifieds.

Then on Friday, the Summit USMTS competes in the 8th Annual End of Summer Bash with a $10,000 top prize dangling in front of USMTS racers. USRA B-Mods, USRA Hobby Stocks and USRA Late Models are also on the card both nights.

The pit gates open at 4 p.m., grandstands open at 5:30, hot laps begin at 6:45 and racing starts at 7. Visit mississippithunder.com for more information.

With just 12 races left to determine the 2022 USMTS National Champion, four of those are slated for the Deer Creek Speedway, beginning this Saturday with another $10,000-to-win blockbuster.

Just on the other side of the 20th anniversary of Kelly Shryock’s dominance of this event in 2002, Jake O’Neil comes to ‘The Creek’ as the two-time defending champ of the 17th Annual J&S JCB Fastrac 40.

The series returns Sept. 22-24, for the 24th Annual USMTS Featherlite Fall Jamboree.

USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods will round out the three-division program with pit gates opening at 3 p.m., grandstands open at 4, hot laps at 5:30 and racing at 6. Check out deercreekspeedway.com to learn more.

On Sunday, the fast and furious Fayette County Speedway in West Union, Iowa, host the Summit USMTS National Championship with the third straight $10,000-to-win clash of the weekend.

The first War in West Union was waged Sept. 16, 2008, with Jake Neal garnering his first and last USMTS triumph. Ryan Gustin won in 2009 but the series didn’t return until 2016 with Zack VanderBeek coming out on top.

Gustin became the event’s only two-time winner in 2017 and the last four winners were Lucas Schott, Rodney Sanders, Terry Phillips and defending USMTS national champ Dereck Ramirez.

USRA Stock Cars, USRA B-Mods and USRA Hobby Stocks will also be in action battling for Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series national points.

The pits will open at 3 p.m. with grandstands open at 4. Qualifying kicks off at 5:30 with the first green flag at 6. Find out more about the Fayette County Speedway at racefayettecountyspeedway.net.
